Several of you have accepted the invites and figured out how to reply to articles. Can everyone create a new story? Give it a try. Let me know if it does not work. Don't worry about messing the page up with non-racing test stories. I can delete those once we get going.
Oh & and how do the colors look? Blue on blue might be difficult to read. I can play with these settings if you want me to.
I am also testing 4 different gadgets to list recent comments so we can easily find new posts like in a forum. These are in the bottom dark grey section. Let me know your thoughts if I haven't already thinned these out.
ReplyDeleteI am down to two Test gadgets in the left column that I think do pretty much the same thing.
ReplyDeleteAnybody know how to get new posts notices to conventional email ?
ReplyDeleteit works off other Google blogs so it should be possible here ?
OK Everybody, relax. I figured out you have to Subscribe to a given thread to get the blog to tell you when new items are posted.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter - I'll subscribe now. I was wondering why I hadn't received any notifications that you guys were up and running with this wonderful new tool from Danni!
ReplyDeleteAm really happy that we have a meeting place again.
The "look" is good for me Danni. Just thrilled to have us all back together again. Feels like a family reunion! :)
ReplyDeleteI'll look at email notifications. I think it is all or nothing. I don't want anyone thinking they are being spammed by "Two In The Grass".
ReplyDeleteI am going to get rid of one of the Recent Comments gadgets on the left side. The two remaining tests seem to be working about the same.
Comments/Replies are now sending emails to all that I have invited to be authors.
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you need to be added or removed.
You can also pull in stuff into Google Reader (it's in the gmail tab system)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.google.co.uk/reader/view
So you can have your favourite RSS feeds (Autosport etc) and things such as this pulling in.
Look below... I have 4 feeds running the latest 5 stories each right now.
ReplyDeleteDoes this blog put out an RSS feed? Maybe I could use that for the latest posts.
I don't think it puts out an RSS feed, but it can be 'followed' in Google Readerwhen you select follow and login on this site.
ReplyDeleteI admit, I have forgotten how I did it..
I found it in the Help section of all places.
ReplyDeleteFor articles:
http://twointhegrass.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss
For replies or comments:
http://twointhegrass.blogspot.com/feeds/comments/default?alt=rss
That's a lot better
ReplyDeleteHave to say I much prefer this format and page layout.
ReplyDeleteSame as other Google blogs
Yes my goodness - if I can actually function within this framework and not get totally frustrated and walk away, then it MUST be REALLY easy! As Peter can attest to, my computer skills are minimal.
ReplyDeleteHowever....having said that - does anyone know why I get two emails for every posting? Seems a bit much - I can live with it, but just wondering if there was something I should do to reduce the traffic in my inbox.
Yeah I'm a little confused by that to Lila.
ReplyDeleteI think it's probably a tweak that needs to be done.
Now format is really important and when you hit "Post a comment" you get my preferred version.
Oh good - it isn't just me!
ReplyDeleteHey there Mark/Danni...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for setting this up.
I echo Lila, oooops Jocksmemate, in saying it's like a welcome reunion.
And I gotta say there is not too much that can beat the adrenalin rush of having "two wheels in the grass" especially "under brakes for Devil's Hairpin"!!! ;)
Thanks guys & I'm glad that just about everyone has made it back together.
ReplyDeleteIf someone wants off the email list let me know.
I'll double check that people are not being sent two emails per post.
Initially didn't realise the email contained the comment. A quick way to keep tabs. So please leave me ON!
