I REALLY like Alonso - he is definitely my most favourite driver on the current F1 grid, but come on Fred! Your best buddy has just fallen and broken his leg after a full season PLUS of recuperating from a horrific accident where he is lucky to still be alive; and suddenly you say he is the most feared driver on the grid for you? Not really a credible statement. I think you are just sticking up for your friend and trying to keep the door open a crack for him.
sorry - haven't posted in a while, and forgot to "assign" this to F1, and now I don't know how to fix that!
ReplyDeleteSounds like smoke and mirrors to me. Kubica and his team have handled the last 12 months very badly in my view (although it must be said we have heard so little it is hard to tell for sure). We have seen or heard so little from his management team one can only assume that the recuperation is a lot tougher than they say.
ReplyDeleteIf things were going to plan – prior to yesterday’s news – I would have thought there would be media images of Kubica walking, flexing his arm, training or something. Renault come out fairly well as they bent over backwards to facilitate a race seat and got nothing in return (as far is publically known).
I would be surprised to see Kubica race again in F1. That would be a shame as he proved his pace at BMW against Heidfeld. Clearly Alonso is batting for him to be his next “team-mate” at Ferrari in 2013, but I doubt that will happen.
Agreed Earl! I have found this entire shroud of secrecy quite telling in fact. Like you, where are the images of the recuperation process? Compare the media hype surrounding Zanardi or even Kenny Brack, with that of Kubica, and one begins to imagine that he will never sit on another grid. I think there has been a combination of poor management, perhaps over enthusiastic hope, perhaps the odd falsehood thrown in for good measure, and topped with a great deal of money at stake. Renault have been more than patient in my books. But I think the writing is now on the wall, and to run from it any further only hurts his reputation in the long run. At the end of the day, it sounds like that may be all he has left. He might want to get out in front of this one, but I wonder if he is not being allowed to. Big loss for any grid - F1 or otherwise, but I agree, I think we've definitely seen the last of him.
